Welcome to 2021: Update to Texas LPC Rules
Now that 2021 is here, I wanted to share some updates from the Texas LPC Board:
No more paper copies of your license
If you found yourself waiting for your paper copy of your license renewal, you are not alone. Now that the new rules don’t require LPCs to display the license at each location, BHEC has decided not to print licenses beginning November 16, 2020. Now, to see when your license is updated, you have to go to the license verification site and search online. Overall, it’s not a big deal, just a change for most of us that have become used to receiving the paper copy.
Interns are now officially titled LPC Associates (LPC-A)
This has been a long time in the works, and has now become official. All LPC-As need to update all information to note the change. This includes all documents, advertisements, etc.
The LPC Rules are now online!!
For quite some time, when you went to BHEC to view the new rules, there was no link! Fortunately, you can now view the Consolidated Rulebook for Professional Counselors by clicking here. And, if you really want to have a good time, here is the link to Chapter 503 of the Occupations Code, the Licensed Professional Counselor Act. Finally, click here to view the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, 22 TAC Part 30, Chapter 681.
Over the next few months, I plan to highlight important/interesting elements of the LPC rules to help keep you informed.

Here’s to an amazing 2021!!
