Update on Human Trafficking Course

Well, HHSC sent me, along with every other owner of a pre-approved Human Trafficking course, an email a week ago stating that ALL pre-approved Human Trafficking Courses are no longer approved effective March 13, 2025, and they all have to go through a new approval process.

So, in the meantime, my Human Trafficking course is unavailable until it gets approved for a second time… It’s not just my course, it’s every course. The only current option for all TX mental health providers is the option provided by the state (at least it’s free). Here’s the link to the course, and it will also be the link to check back to see if any other courses are approved:

https://www.hhs.texas.gov/services/family-safety-resources/texas-human-trafficking-resource-center/health-care-practitioner-human-trafficking-training

This is very frustrating, and I imagine will create a lot of confusion and questions. Please direct all complaints and questions to the HHSC website and email address:

human_trafficking@hhs.texas.gov

Again, as soon as my course gets approved (again), I’ll be offering it. When I asked about an estimated timeline for courses getting approved, they could not provide one. So who knows how long it will take…

BOTTOM LINE: refer to the website above starting March 13, 2025 to confirm the Human Trafficking course you’re about to take will actually count as part of your legally required renewal obligations.

All my other courses are not effected by this! This is only related to the Human Trafficking course which is controlled by HHSC rather than BHEC.

What a mess…
